ABOUT THE ART EXIBITION
In addition to leading an
art making workshop earlier in the day visiting artist Dante Ventresca
will exhibit a new series of drawings titled "Now is too much"
Dante has exhibited his artwork
throughout the U.S. In addition to his work as a visual artist, Dante
is also a composer and writer. His libretto "Ulast" was performed
at the Utah Opera Festival this past summer. His play "End Town"
closed recently in Los Angeles. He is currently researching a book
which will document more than 500 years of his family's history,
and oh yeah - he is also a girl's soccer coach- for real!
Castlewood group home will be displaying an extraordinary grouping of photos which in effect document the life of a group home. These photos were originally taken and used as part of a larger project for an exhibit at the Louisuille visual Art Association. This is the first time they have been shown in Lexington.
Additionally "Connections" participants are allowing us to view 2 sculptures which they made collectively as a tribute to a fellow participant who passed away. They are an amazing gesture of love, honor and remembrance.
WOW - That's a lot, but wait - THERE'S MORE!
From 6pm-6:30pm. There will be a performance by the "Capitol House Players" from Frankfort. "Capitol House" is a day program located in Frankfort. Over the past few years their theatre ensemble called "The Capitol House players" have performed for audiences statewide. Their plays are generally a series of sketches which deal primarily with issues related to mental health.
From 6:45pm- 7:00pm. Dedication.
A number of speakers representing participating agencies, guardians, participants,
and friends will say a few words. The poet Ruthie Maslin will read.
