Three Poems by Darren Powers

Scared

 Scared

Of what the medicine does

To me

It makes me sick to my stomach

Almost

I don't know which pill

One pill makes

Me sleepy

They don't put them in packages

They put them in bottles

That's about it

For medication

Nursery Rhymes

It might be silly

Like one two buckle my shoe

Three four shut the door

Five six pick up sticks

Noise

People talking

Working

Activity

Ever once in a while

The doorbell goes off

The air vent

Cuts in

Ballard E Powers

I miss you a whole lot I've cried my eyes out

Every night when I go to sleep

you are my honey baby darling

I wish

Before you died

That stores would have stopped selling

Cigarettes

I love you very

Very

Much

Angel

By Barbara Moore

She looks neat

With all the colors on her

Different colors

Red pink blue orange black

Wings

They can fly anywhere

A bird is like an angel

They both can fly anywhere

Opened black eyes mean

Nothing nothing

Her hands are shut

That is all I know

The Angels

He' s

Holding a hat

He's got plates

They got dresses on

Orange red green

This ones got yellow orange and blue

He's got flowerpots

He's got hats

Yellow and black

He's got a table

The doors close now

The angels have gone home

Nothing

Barbara

Everything

By Amanda

I went for a walk

I heard a train whistle

Outside

The train is slowing down

The cars are moving

Barbara is vacuuming

Wally is walking and humming

Clifford is sitting down in his chair

Now he is filling his bag

I hear the phone

Everything
