TRAINING

Generating Positive Public Media/Public Relations

TRAINING. Generating Positive Public Media/Public Relations

TARGET AUDIENCE: Board Members, Program Administrators and staff from every discipline.

STRUCTURE AND CONTENT: What is more pervasive, positive or negative media relating to Social Services? All too often, the answer is negative. In this training/workshop Latitude will demonstrate how positive media perception can promote a program, and how poor media perception can impact a program negatively. Latitude will offer a step by step guide showing how a program can create a positive relationship with local, regional and national media. Latitude will discuss ways in which your organization can create opportunities for "positive media showcasing", creating the events that generate positive media (we're not talking telethons, here). We will demonstrate how to create effective press releases, Brochures, promotional videos, etc. We will also teach you how to "use" positive media to the benefit of your program. The learner will be able

  • understand the need for positive media.

  • access free community media (radio, newspaper, television, etc.)

  • develop personal relationships with people in media.

  • create community events showcasing and promoting positive aspects of your program.

  • Write press releases, brochures, etc.

  • create a press packet

  • use positive language in interview processes.

  • recognize positive components of your program.

  • utilize positive media generated to benefit your program.
