"Opportunity Time" Workshop in Supported Employment

TRAINING/WORKSHOP: "Opportunity Time" Workshop in Supported Employment

TARGET AUDIENCE: Supported Employment Administration and staff, and employees/participants.

STRUCTURE AND CONTENT: Some studies suggest that it is not uncommon for supported workshops to have up to 20% down time. This time is often unproductive for the participants and can lead to behavioral issues. Latitude is developing a program that workshops can implement which provides opportunity for a more enriched experience during "down time". This includes training for staff on how to better engage people during "down time", and to make use of pre-existing community connections. It also introduces supporting documentation within the framework of supported employment "down-time". The learner will be able to:

  • recognize the opportunity for enriched activity during "down-time''.

  • Create positive community links

  • document each participants interaction in the target community.

INSTRUCTIONAL FORMAT: Trainer Facilitated with quarterly or semi-annual follow up/updates .

INSTRUCTIONAL MODES: Dialogue/discussion with interactive exercises (overhead graphics, follow-along materials, interactive handouts). Includes competency test and evaluation of training/workshop

LENGTH: One day comprehensive training with periodic updates.
